The matte colors of Danish Flower Thread are inspired by natural
plant colors. Color master Einar Hansen of Vejle began developing
them in 1929. The name honors painter and weaver Gerda Bengtsson,
whose many floral embroidery designs are featured by Haandarbejdets Fremme.
The smooth, round fibers are composed of
100% colorfast cotton and sold in 20 meter (22 yard) skeins. Since stitching is usually done with one thread,
it doesn't twist, so is easier to work with.
